F.Y.R.O.M Gevgeli

Passing the border to FYROM, Gevgeli is the first village. It is a poor village approximately 80Km from Thessaloniki. There are two casinos in area and the main visitors are Greek people from Thessaloniki and Kilkis. This time the passport control to FYROM border was slightly strict. The FYROM government official demanded from us to fill in the pass card before finish the costume control. So for this reason he kept first car's green card to fill in the pass card and then he gave as the green card back. In addition the costumes official sought the boot and she asked me twice if the camera that I carried with was new.

The citizens had a provocative attitude when they understood that we were Greeks. In particular a man who had picnic in the Vardar River was extremely impolite. He spoke to us in Greek and asked to us to leave from the river. Finally he said something about Dora Bakoyianni the Greek minister of foreign affairs.
In contrast the waiterss in the restaurant and coffee shop were really polite. The restaurant is 3km from Gevgeli. It is a small restaurant with quality and good prices. It is noticeable that all the costumers were Greeks who after they visited the casino they went to the restaurant for a lunch. The restaurant offers service to reserve a table.
The area is similar to Makedonia area. The Vardar river passes through mountains and makes the landscape really nice.
